We are
Golden
Square
Tutors.

We are a collective of top private tutors based in central London. We teach undergraduate and postgraduate university, GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate students. Our tutors are university researchers and graduate students. They have years of experience teaching their subjects. We offer tuition both in person and online.

Our idea

The idea of starting a new tutoring collective first came to us in the idyllic Golden Square in the London neighbourhood of Soho, and that’s where our name comes from. We define ourselves as a tutoring collective and not as a tutoring agency, and that’s because we want to put forward a more egalitarian approach to tutoring. This is why, unlike the large majority of tutoring agencies in London, we only charge an initial matching fee that helps us cover the cost of matching the student with their tutor, instead of charging a percentage on every hour. This means that what our customers pay goes straight into the tutor’s pockets.

Who we are

Ado Farsi, PhD

co-director

Ado is currently a Research Associate at Imperial College London. He holds a PhD in Computational Mechanics from Imperial College London, and a BSc and a MSc in Civil Engineering. His industrial collaborations included working with London Underground and Johnson Matthey (you can find more information on his research on his personal website). He has been a tutor for more than ten years, working with major London-based agencies.

Dario Picozzi

CO-director

Dario holds a degree in Theoretical Physics (from Imperial College London), one in Philosophy and one in Mathematics (both from King’s College London). He is currently a PhD candidate in physics at University College London (UCL). He has been working as a tutor for more than ten years, working with tutoring agencies in London and internationally. His extensive teaching experience ranges from teaching KS2 pupils to university students, and from one-to-one tuition to large classes.

Our price levels

The pricing we offer is extremely competitive. Our model is different to that of most London agencies: we only charge an initial matching fee that helps us cover the cost of matching the student with their tutor, instead of charging a percentage on every hour of tuition. This means that we are able to offer hourly fees that are significantly lower than comparable tutoring agencies in London, and that what our customers pay goes straight into the tutor’s pockets. As a customer, you only pay the first half of the matching fee (£30/£35/£40 depending on the level) when you are matched to your new tutor, and you pay the second half only if you decide to continue working with them after your first session.
